Rob comes to his position as an Addictions Counselor at Mountaineer Recovery Center from Potomac Highlands Guild, where he was Clinical Director of Addiction Recovery Services. Prior to that he worked as a Suicide Intervention Specialist for the State Opioid Response and Prevent Suicide WV. In those roles he helped forge MOU’s with local hospitals, jails, and other organizations to integrate recovery coaches and follow up services for individuals with SUD and suicidal ideation. He also helped institute the “Knock and Talk” program which sends recovery coaches to homes and ERs after overdoses.

Rob has a Master’s in Counseling from Marshall University and is a Provisionally Licensed Counselor. He was one of the first CCAR Recovery Coach Academy graduates in WV. He also holds a Master’s in Education. His Bachelor’s degree was completed on a full “Presidential Excellence” academic scholarship plus an art scholarship, at Carson-Newman University. He was one of 6 students in his class to graduate with honors. Rob also completed 62 graduate hours of theology courses including experiences like a trip to Myanmar to learn about Buddhism and a short stint in a Benidictine Monastery.

Rob has given talks and training to thousands of people, from school children, to health care providers and veterans. Some of his areas of expertise include suicide prevention and intervention, substance use disorder, 12-step and other recovery models, stigma reduction, crisis intervention, and behavior modification. He wrote a program on dealing with mental health calls which has been approved for CEU’s for EMTs, Paramedics, and Law Enforcement. In his free time Rob enjoys anything related to art or history, and volunteering for Hospice of the Panhandle.
